1. The consonant Рр

Рр [р] ≠ Rr[r]

The Russian Рр [р] is absolutely different from the English Rr [r] by sounding and articulation. Articulating the English sound [r] the tip of the tongue is lift up to the back part of the alveoli (the alveolar ridges behind the upper teeth). The tongue isn’t moved and doesn’t vibrate.

The Russian consonant Рр [р] is formed as a result of the vibration of the tip of the tongue, which a few times occludes and uncovers the front part of the palate; the border of the tongue is pressed to the lateral teeth. Concurrently the tip of the tongue isn’t incurved back like by the pronunciation of the English [r].

Differently from the English Rr [r], the Russian Рр [р] is pronounced in all positions: both in front of vowels and after them.

Listen, repeat, and read.
For the convenience of reading skills development words are split into syllables.
